Better than others, but too many carbs
"Bulk up" is what it should be called. Since I am trying to cut down, taking this is counter productive. Each serving is over 500 calories!! I use about 4 tea spooons a day to mix with my creatine. I chose it over other brands because you seem to get more product for less price. The creatine content of Magnum is not that much that in order for you to get a standard dose (about 4-5g), you will ingest some 600 calories. Not worth it.
In all honesty, this is the last tub of protein shake I will ever buy, and stick to eggs, oatmeal and chicken. Cheaper and definitely better for youReview by Sean A on 13th September 2010

Good Supplemental Drink
This is a good recovery and supplemental drink. However, it is a little too sweet for me. Therefore, I have to reduce the number of scoops per serving and that cuts into the amount of protein intended.

Good
Pros:
The best ingredient list per serving size out there, they really pack all the goodies in here.
Tastes great!
(Do yourself a favor and mix with some skim & ice in a blender. Despite what they say, it will clump in a shaker bottle if you use anywhere near the recommended amount).
Cons:
Unlike other brands, Magnum doesn't sit well with me on an empty stomach. It's weird, since I thought a gainer like this could be substituted once and a while for breakfast when I'm in a hurry. It has a sort of "hollow" feel to it though, so be sure to eat first, at least in the morning anyway.Review by Joe Cacavone on 13th September 2010

Not for the losing weight type
I bought and started to use this product when I was still in the "need to lose weight" phase. I stopped using it when I noticed my weight was declining. Now that I am in the "need to tone" phase I started using it again but only one-fourth or even one-fifth of the recommended dosage. For a 5'8" guy, I don't need that much nutrients and fat. Overall, I do think it works as I am able to work out more the next day.

Good stuff
Good working stuff. Only good for post workout to get some healthy carbs and calories in. If you take it 3 times a day you will just get a stomach because the carbs hide out there. So I would suggest this product for post-workout and then just up your calorie/fat/carb intake with an increased balanced diet.

Sickeningly sweet
I am not writing at all to detract from the quality, usefulness, or contents of this recovery drink, but to be quite honest - the level of sweetness here is almost too much to bear; Even watered down to that degree, I would describe the feeling to that of attempting to gulp down 30 oz. of melted rich vanilla ice cream on a hot day. *Gags*
I consume whey protein regularly throughout the day, and this is my first experience with a specifically-titled "recovery drink". Perhaps this particular variety of product is incredibly sweet by its nature, because of its carb/protein replenishment matrix. If this is the case, I can't imagine trying to stomach a full four-scoop serving.
I haven't tried other flavours, and am not too sure if I will stay with Magnum 8000, or go for something else.Review by A. D. Paige "Anthony on 13th September 2010
